Behold the mystery of the bird tree. This arboreal enigma is located in Piazza Venezia near the Campidoglio just a short walk from my apartment. What makes it so mysterious? Well, each night after dark, every bird in the city (and I'm not so sure this is an exaggeration) congregates here to make a bunch of noise and crap on the sidewalk below. The neighboring trees of the same species, height and outward health are left alone. Next time you are in Rome, keep an eye out for this sight-to-be-seen and try not to walk under it. Trust me.
